ECO_PRINT
DESIGNER • 2018 CMU IMPACT-A-THON • IN COLLABORATION WITH JACKIE CHOU, AMBER LEE, & LISA YAN
Storms, earthquakes, wildfires, floods tornados and other weather-related disasters put people, communities, and infrastructure at risk, requiring rapid response in a variety of ways. How can we improve medical relief during these natural disasters? As part of the Rothberg Catalyzer Impact-A-Thon Challenge, my team designed Eco_Print to not only tackle the cost and efficiency of transporting medical supplies but also reduce the landfill crisis after a natural disaster.

Testimonial
As the engineer on my team (@emy), it was really refreshing to collaborate with a group of designers (@amberl1, @cchheath, @jwchou) who were passionate about designing a solution for Impact-a-thon. They did a lot of research on the bigger picture and designed how we could deliver our 3D design kits and provide a simple user interface, whereas I feel that engineers would typically tend to focus on just the technical component and seem “out-of-touch” in situations such as natural disasters. I really think engineering and design go hand-in-hand and encourage more collaborations in the future!
